FACES BEHIND THE BRAND

Rika Cuff
Rika Cuff joined the Herff Jones executive team as Vice President of Sales for the scholastic division in January 2018. She is responsible for leading the sales organization with a concentration of winning new schools and driving improvement in same schools’ sales.

Cuff previously served as National Account Manager for Herff Jones’ parent company, Varsity Brands, via its IMPACT program since 2014. Prior to that, she worked with Varsity Spirit Fashion beginning in 2010. Her career background includes having a strong emphasis on human resources, business management, sales and business ownership. Cuff and her husband have also owned a successful construction company since 1994, which has given her great perspective as it relates to entrepreneurship.

Cuff earned a BBA degree from Arizona State University. Cuff’s former organization affiliations include: Executive Advisor for the Arizona Interscholastic Association, President of the Arizona Cheer Coaches Association and professional liaisons volunteer at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

“I have never considered being a woman as a negative, in fact, I consider it my superpower. We are instinctive by nature, have the ability to multi-task efficiently and carry a level of empathy that allows us to balance accountability with compassion. I am thankful to be a woman.

My advice to the younger females out there, is to be true to yourself and always stick to the facts. Listen more than you speak, and start each day being the woman that a younger girl strives to be when she grows up.”

Alan Gray
Alan spent nine years in an IT role at Eli Lilly and Co. But, his appetite wasn’t satisfied by that work, so he went to grad school, which is where he was introduced to the world of customer insights and market research.

After that, he remained at Eli Lilly for a few years in a market research role leading their customer satisfaction program. Then, he moved on to Roche, where he held two different roles, one in business analytics and the other focusing on global market insights.

Alan  has been at Herff Jones for just over two years, but in that short time he’s managed to unlock some key findings in support of the organization’s journey to get to know the customers it serves.

In May 2018, Alan was hired to launch the Herff Jones customer insights team. And for a while, that team consisted of just one person. He hit the ground running, touring the country to meet our customers and conduct focus groups, only to come home and dig into the data.

Prefacing the statement with, "I know this sounds cheesy," Alan will tell you how he stays motivated: He wakes up in the morning and falls asleep at night thinking about how we can improve our relationship with our customers. And if you know Alan, you know that passion is authentic.
